STUBBLE CRUNCHER
The Stubble Cruncher cuts corn stalks, canola stubble and cover crops and works them into the top of the soil. It runs a 24" diameter drum with 4β bolt-on straight blades, on the running gear from our Landrollers. Three sizes: Inline at 15' and 20', 3-Plex at 42'.
What it does in the field
Heavy residue left standing takes months to break down, and it is still there in the spring when you want to seed. The blades cut that residue and press it into the soil surface, where it rots instead of sitting up in the air. Corn stalks and canola stubble are the two that hold a field up the longest; cover crops get incorporated the same way.
Drum and blades
The drum is 24" in diameter. Blades are 4β bolt-on grader blades, beveled and made of hardened steel, so they keep an edge through a season of stalks and unbolt when they are finished. Bolt-on means a damaged blade is a part you carry, not a welding job.
Running gear from the Landroller
Ductile cast knuckles, 3" bearings and 3/8" wall tubing come straight off our Landroller design. A hydraulic floating hitch is standard, so the machine follows the ground instead of bridging it, and a dual rear wheel steer axle is standard as well, which is what brings a 42' machine around a headland. Corners are steel reinforced.
Transport and options
The frame folds narrow for the road. A clevis hitch insert is available for tractors that do not run a pintle, and a mechanical acre counter keeps track of what you have covered.

- Drum: 24" diameter drum.
- Blades: 4" bolt-on grader blade, beveled, hardened steel.
- Bearings: 3" bearings.
- Frame: 3/8" wall tubing, ductile cast knuckles, steel reinforced corners.
- Standard: hydraulic floating hitch, dual rear wheel steer axle, narrow transport design.
- Options: clevis hitch insert, mechanical acre counter.
- Related: smooth drums with no blades on the 3-Plex Landroller, and crimping instead of cutting on the Cover Crop Crimper.

A harrow moves residue around on the surface. The Stubble Cruncher cuts it with 4β blades and presses it into the soil, which is what starts it breaking down. The field is ready earlier in the spring because the trash is gone into the ground, not raked across it.
Inline comes at 15' and 20' and pulls straight behind the tractor. The 3-Plex is 42' on three sections with the hydraulic floating hitch and the dual rear wheel steer axle. Acres decide it more than anything else.
They are beveled hardened steel and they bolt on. Corn stalks and rock will wear an edge eventually; when they do, you unbolt the blade and put the next one on. Nothing has to be cut off the drum.
Corn stalks and canola stubble first, since those are what stand through a winter. It also works cover crops into the soil rather than leaving them on top, which is the difference between this machine and a crimper.
A clevis hitch insert for tractors set up for a clevis rather than a pintle, and a mechanical acre counter. The hydraulic floating hitch, the dual rear wheel steer axle and the narrow transport design are standard, not extras.
