Single Landroller

The Single Landroller is our one-drum roller. We build it in Plum Coulee, Manitoba, in seven widths from 4’ to 20’. The 4’ runs behind a 24+ HP tractor and the 20’ wants 80+. Every width takes one of three drums, and every drum can be filled with water when you want more weight on the ground.

What it does in the field

Rolling presses rocks and root balls back down, flattens lumps and ruts, and firms the surface so seed sits against soil instead of air. You get the return twice: an even stand in the spring, and a header that runs low in the fall without picking up stone. Alfalfa, pasture, crop residue and rural airport grounds all get rolled with these.

Drums

Three drums fit every width: 36” x 1/2”, 42” x 5/8” and 42” x 3/4”. The 42” x 3/4” is the heavy one, and with it a 4’ machine works out to 540 lbs per foot of width while the 20’ sits at 385. Water in the drum adds more than that, and it drains out again when you want the machine light.

Shaft, bearings and knuckles

The drum turns on a 3” shaft carried by an 18” support plate inside the drum, in a 3” self-aligning HD bearing. Knuckles are ductile cast with grease grooves cut into them. Cast is more porous than steel, so grease works through the joint instead of sitting in one place, and pins are less likely to seize.

Frame and hitch

Frame tubing is 8” x 4” x 3/8” and hitch tubing is 6” x 4” x 3/8”. A clevis hitch insert is available if that is what your tractor pulls with. A mechanical acre counter keeps track of coverage. Mandako green or black.

Sizes and transport

Transport length is 11’-8” on every size. Overall width runs from 5’-2” on the 4’ to 21’-1” on the 20’, and there are no wings to fold on a single-drum machine, so that is the width that travels the road. Working width is 4’-1” up to 20’-1”.

• Weight: with the 42” x 3/4” drum, 540 lbs per foot on the 4’ down to 385 lbs per foot on the 20’.
• Water: ability to add water to the drum for extra weight.
• Drum shaft & bearing: 3” drum shaft with an 18” support plate inside the drum, 3” HD self-aligning bearing.
• Frame: 8” x 4” x 3/8” frame tubing, 6” x 4” x 3/8” hitch tubing.
