The Field Sergeant is our heavy harrow, built in Plum Coulee, Manitoba, in four widths: 52’, 60’, 72’ and 84’. Tine angle, down pressure and the transport wheels all move on hydraulics, so the machine is set from the cab. Tines are 26”x9/16" with carbide-coated tips, on a 3-section frame with 10” x 10” x 1/4" main beams.
What it does in the field
Harrowing spreads straw and chaff off the combine rows, knocks down lumps and levels ruts, so the field dries and warms evenly instead of in strips. Run the tines flat for a light pass over a seeded field; stand them up to tear into heavy trash and move dirt. Both settings are a lever in the cab, not a pin in the field.
Tines and settings
26”x9/16" tines sit in 5 rows on 2.4" spacing, with carbide-coated tips that hold an edge far longer than bare steel in sandy ground. Hydraulic tine angle adjust changes how aggressive the pass is, hydraulic down pressure holds the tines into the ground where it is hard, and a visible gauge plus a selection level gauge tell you where the settings actually are without getting out.
Weight on the hitch
Most heavy harrows will try to lift the hitch in transport. The Field Sergeant carries over 1200 lbs of positive weight on the hitch by design, patent pending, so the drawbar stays loaded on the road and the machine tracks behind the tractor instead of steering it.
Frame and tires
Three frame sections, 10” x 10” x 1/4" main beams and solid draw tubes. The centre section runs 16.5L-16.1 SL Softrac tires and the wings run 12.5L-15FI Highway Service tires on 8-Bolt hubs. Field to transport is a hydraulic wheel rotate: nothing to unpin or crank.
Sizes and power
7-10 HP per foot of width and three hydraulic ports on the tractor. The 52’ weighs 10424 lbs and the 84’ 14341 lbs. Transport width is 178" and height 140" on every size; transport length runs 478" on the 52’ to 670" on the 84’, with a 209" hitch.

7-10 HP per foot of width and three hydraulic ports. The machine itself runs 10424 lbs on the 52’ up to 14341 lbs on the 84’, so check the drawbar rating along with the horsepower.
It keeps over 1200 lbs of weight on the hitch so it cannot raise in transport, which is the usual complaint with a heavy harrow. The design is patent pending and it is standard on every size.
Tine angle and down pressure are both hydraulic, set from the cab while you drive. A visible gauge and a selection level gauge show the setting, so you can repeat it on the next field instead of guessing.

52’, 60’, 72’ and 84’, all on the same 3-section frame with the same tines and the same transport width. The width is set by your horsepower and your acres; everything else is identical between them.
